 IDEAS

IDEA 1

​

 My first idea is to create a documentary about why music is evolving , I thought this would be a great idea as i could interview so many people. Music is huge and analysing why music is evolving could open up to so many possibilities , I could interview lots of people in my college as we are known as the '' cyber-generation'' for use of technology. But i would've of looked into how that label that our generation has been given ties in with music. Because the streaming sites are almost the new stem of music. But then i could look into how records seem to be coming back.

The reason why i didn't choose this project is because i have just made a documentary. I want to push myself further with different challenges and different projects.

 IDEA 2

​

 My second idea was to create a film trailer. I wanted the genre to be thriller. However i was struck whether i wanted to do a teaser or a trailer. A teaser is a way of advertising a film by releasing a teaser months before the release of a film. It contains little content from the film and is released to give a glimpse towards the audience and increase the hype of the film before  the release of its trailer. Whereas a trailer is  a way of advertising a film that is going to be released in the near future or after few months. It is longer than a teaser and provides a brief idea about the plot line of the film. I wanted to create a teaser because i had visions on what i wanted to do. Cinematography is something i extremely admire and i would've really wanted enforce some aesthetic shots however what stopped me doing this was i couldn't think of a plot. The plot does not have to be a full plot as it is only a trailer but you need to establish to the audience what the film is. I was just worried it wouldn't have any structure and it would just be a mess.

 IDEA 3

​

   My third idea was to create a plot based music video , a narrative music video is much more engaging for the audience. It has a story that attracts their attention and keeps them engaged till the end. It seems like it is becoming more of a common theme in the music video industry. The problem is that i could not come up with an idea to build around the video. I always like the idea of plot based music videos but i could not find a story-line to fit with the music i wanted to use.

  IDEA 4 

  My fourth idea was my  most strongest idea , I really had a vision on how i was going to create this piece and had already set out some foundations to begin. I wanted to create a music video based off ''gorillaz''. I really wanted to delve deep into to the creativity which they use in their pieces such as cartoon pieces. I knew this wasn't going to be easy so i used Reddit pages to talk to people about how i could make this still a challenge but a little easier for myself. Gorillaz recent music videos included less animation than their previous work so that helped me in terms or realism.

However i set a task of making sure i use no stock footage whatsoever in this project and i wanted to keep it this way. I really started to doubt the idea and then i really didn't like the idea of it. I didn't want to use green screen stock footage for the gorillaz cartoon characters they use and that did not help. Also i did not want to focus on the characters so much that my video did not have any flow what so ever. So i ditched the idea unfortunately because i just did not have any confidence in it.

IDEA 5 - FINAL IDEA 

This is final idea , I had a generic light bulb moment when this happened but it did feel good. My final idea is to create a music video , mixing two of frank ocean's song in the album '' Blonde''

The music video will show a short story of someone looking back at their life. It will start off dark, gloomy, however midway through the video it will transition to another song and it will be more upbeat. I want to make sure I match my target audience ( which is stated in the research) but then convert it into visual imagery , by doing this i will be combining a wide range of effects to give the best possible journey throughout this music video for the viewers , i will make my music video grainy , dark and get some really minimalistic shots in the first half of the video , then when the it switches the next song , it will be much more brighter and a faster pace to the music video.
